Spring or Scissor action grips are ideal for soft materials and elastomers such as foam or dogbone flat samples of flexible plastics and elastomers that experience a large reduction in cross-section area under load. They provide positive non-slip gripping action and are quick and simple to use. The fast action lever approach makes sample insertion easy and the spring pressures of the jaws give a positive non-slip action gripping force. The force of the grip is proportional to the tensile strength using the self clamping principle. Also the lateral movement ensures good sample alignment during the test.
