OVERVIEW
ISO 14801 establishes the fatigue test method for single post endosseous dental implants of the transmucosal type and their premanufactured prosthetic components. The implants are typically titanium based and securely and permanently anchored in the jawbone. They provide mechanical stimulation to the underlying bone and gum structures to promote healthy tissue growth around the implant. ISO 14801 standardizes the procedure and method for dynamic fatigue testing of dental implants by specifying the test method to determine fatigue strength and behavior of these medical implants and devices.
