The ASTM D732 (D-732) standard determines the shear strength of composite materials in the form of sheets, plates, and molded shapes in thicknesses from 1.27 to 12.7 mm (0.050 to 0.500 in.) via the punch type method. The shear strength test can be used to compare materials for selection in engineering projects.
