OVERVIEW
ASTM D 638 determines the tensile properties of unreinforced and reinforced plastics dumbbell or dog bone specimen of any thickness up to 14 mm and also determines Poisson Ratio for a material. For testing thin sheets or films (thickness less than 1mm) ASTM D882 is recommended. The data from ASTM D-638 is useful for qualitative characterization, research and development, quality control and other plastics engineering design purposes. Some of the properties obtained from this test include the tensile strength, elongation, strain, modulus of elasticity and Poisson
TestResources tensile test equipment is modular and configured by our applications engineer to match your specific material, sample type and test method. Our product line includes a wide variety of test machines, test software, grips, test fixtures, extensometers, sample preparation aids, and environmental chambers. Call us to discuss your test application.
Plastic and composites are polymers with substances added to improve performance or reduce costs. Plastics may be cast, pressed, or extruded into film, sheet, fibre or fiber reinforced, glass fiber, plate, tubes, bottles, and boxes. Thermoplastics are soft and melt high temperatures. Thermo plastic materials such as polyethylene (PE), polystyrene (PS), polyamide (PA), abs acrylic and polyester feature repeatable deformation. Thermosetting or thermohardening plastic can be hard or brittle and temperature resistant. Thermosets include epoxy resins, polyester resins, phenolic resins and polyurethane and non-deformable and non meltable. Tensile tests measure the load required to break a plastic test sample and specimen stretch or elongation to that breaking load. The resulting test data helps specify materials, design parts to withstand forces, and key quality control checks for materials. 1708 250 26 2990 37 638 8256 882 abs accepted astm load rate astm D638 accesorries acrylic adhesive adhesively aluminium american analyses analysis mold astm D-638 plastic astm D-638 tear animation ASTM D638 Tensile Plastics Test Equipment apparatus application applications area arkansas article assemblies astm plastic dog bag bagging bags bandages bar barbell bars bench benchtop bending best between biaxial tensile test fixture astm D638 reinforced thermoplastic bolts bond bonded bonds bone bones bottle bottles brackets break bs build burst buy by cable calculating calculation calculations calibration capacity carbon cards cell cellular ceramics astm D-638 composites tension compression flexure astm D-638 cfrp chain chamber chart chennai claculated clamp clamps ASTM D638 Tensile Plastics Test Equipment classroom cleveland clip coatings companies comparative compare comparing comparison composite composites compress compression compressive conclusion configuration construction containers controller conversion cost coupler coupon covers testing methods astm D638 tensile properties astm D638crates creating creep creep-rupture cross cross head speed crosshead curve curves cutter cutters cylindrical d d2990 d3039 d3163-01 d638 d-638 d638 test method astm D638 tensile ASTM D638 Tensile Plastics Test Equipment d638 tensile d882 d882-tensile data defined definition deformation description design desktops destructive details determine determining development device devices devise diagram astm D638 die difference different different tensile strength dimension dimensions astm D638 din disc discussion distance astm D638 tensile strength plastic bags astm D638 astm D638 slip during astm D638 test astm D638 tensile test astm D638 plastic astm D638 hounsfield tensometer astm D638 you measure astm D638 tensile strength astm D638plastic dog dog bone-shaped specimen astm D638 tensile tests dogbone down drawing ASTM D638 Tensile Plastics Test Equipment ductility dumbbell dumbbell-shaped dynamic e modulus astm D638 thermoplastic e8 easy educational effect elasticity elastomer elevated elongation epoxy equations equiopment equipment equipments example experiment experiments extensiometer extension extensometer extensometers fabric face fatigue fda fiber fiberglass fibers fibre fibre-reinforced filament astm D638 pdf film films astm D638 pdf fixture fixtures flatwise flex flexible flexural flexure flim flouroplastic foam foil following flouroplastics astm D638 astm D638 astm D638 astm D638 plastic astm D638 plastic tubing astm D638
