ASTM C 1499 (C-1499) determines the equibiaxial strength of advanced ceramics at ambient temperature via concentric ring configurations under monotonic uniaxial loading. Strength as used in this test method refers to the maximum strength obtained under monotonic application of load. The two types of specimens that may be used are machined test specimens and as-fired test specimens that have a limited degreee of warpage. This test method may be used for quality assurance, characterization, comparison, and research and development.
