The G884 flexural fixture is for short beam tests including interlaminar shear strength tests of polymer matrix composites. It can also be used for the flexural testing of brittle materials such as ceramics and ceramic-matrix composites when articulation of loading and support rollers are not needed. In those applications the brittle specimens must be flat (surface ground). Because of the relatively large support span possible, the fixture is also used for three-point flexure testing per ASTM D790 and D7264. It is available in either three-point or four-point loading configuration.
